The differences between these two schools are very big.
The first big difference: Ligatne region secondary school is smaller than Umberto I . At Ligatne school there are a little bit more than 200 students, but here at the Convitto students are a lot more. The second difference: In Latvia each school subject has got its own classroom, so the students (not the teachers) change classroom every lesson. In each classroom there is some different equipment for different subjects. This is because we can do lots of practical things during the lessons, e.g. Experiments in physics or chemistry . But in Italy it’s totally different – students sit in their classroom and teachers change classes. The third difference: In Latvia the first school day is in on 1st September. It’s a big celebration day, there are big concerts, the school headmasters give beautiful speeches and in the evening great parties are organized. The fourth difference: Rules in our school are not as strict as they are here. After every lesson there is a break; in these breaks we can go out of school and breathe some fresh air or just have some fun. After the last lesson we can go home without any parents’ permission, and if it’s necessary you we can go out before the last lesson. At school we are very active. We can go to folk dances lessons or sing in a choir. For each celebration we decorate our school, so that it is more beautiful and interesting. But the most important difference is the education system, in Latvia it’s totally different.
