Sabato 23 maggio 2015 è morta Anna Maria Settembrini, insegnante di Inglese nella nostra Scuola Media. Era una persona buona e simpatica, che sicuramente è rimasta e rimarrà nel cuore dei suoi ex allievi ora al Liceo. Il giorno del funerale, nella Cappella del “Mauriziano”, erano in tanti a ricordarla e a piangerla. In sua memoria sono state dette parole ispirate e commosse, come quelle che qui riportiamo. Di nostro mettiamo una citazione adattata da Paul Simon, pensando al suo amore per la musica: Hi, Anna Maria, Heaven holds a place for those who teach.

Cara prof. Settembrini (7mbrini),
Le dobbiamo tutti un grande Grazie, detto dal cuore. Perché Lei ci ha insegnato a vivere, a andare incontro ad ogni difficoltà, sempre con quel sorriso che riesce a consolare tutti e non dà a vedere le proprie sofferenze. Lei era veramente una donna forte perché è andata contro tutti gli ostacoli che la vita poteva porle e li ha superati.
E’ stata non solo un’insegnante di Inglese, ma di vita. Mi dispiace, o meglio, spiace a tutti, che Lei se ne sia andata troppo presto perché i suoi sforzi durati una vita sono stati vanificati in un secondo; sappiamo anche, anzi, ne siamo sicuri, che Lei non avrebbe voluto lasciarci così, ma una cosa molto più grande di Lei l’ha strappata via da noi.
Grazie per averci salutato con un “Arrivederci!” probabilmente sapendo che sarebbe stato un “Addio!”.
Spero che la Nutella ci sia anche in Paradiso, pronta per il “Nutella Party”.

there are a lot of things that I may say, but what better summarise my feelings is that it has been a pleasure to be a student of yours. You has been a great teacher, a mix of seriousness and sense of humour. I will never forget your jokes, your love for imitations, expecially when you used to imitate the characters of the “Simpsons” family, but also your hate for delays, that made me running fast to get to school in the morning; and your love for teaching, that made you to be present with us until the very end. This I will never forget too.
I really hope that in the place you are going you will find other students, happy as we were to learn English from you.
