Indycar Vs Nascar

Picture1-1Probably the two motorsport giants in the United States, Indycar and Nascar, attract thousands of fans from all around America, and maybe even from around the world. But which one is better? I’ll try to give you my opinion based on three factors: speed, structure of the car and general entertainment.

I guess that there are a lot of people ready to argue with me about this, but I personally think that a big part of the enjoyment in watching motorsports comes from the incredible speed of the vehicles. So, obviously, from this point of view, Indycar is better with a top speed of 380 km/h compared to the 321 km/h of Nascar. Both have pretty slow acceleration, it takes a Nascar 3.4 seconds to reach 95 km/h and an Indycar 3 seconds, compared to the 2.6 of F1. Anyway, Indy wins this round.

Next up is the structure of the car, on one side we have Nascar that represents the most important and biggest stock car series in the world, meanwhile Indycar is the highest class of American open-wheel car racing. In my opinion Nascar wins hands down. It’s the typical American car with a big and noisy V8 engine. There’s nothing you can do about it, it’s just the full representation of America, with its mighty chassis, it’s a beauty.

And lastly for the entertainment, I decided to watch a few races from each series to see which one was more entertaining. Even though I watch Formula 1, since I’m not able to watch many Indycar and Nascar races on TV, I’m not biased on which one is better. After watching the races I decided that Nascar is better. I think it’s more unpredictable and with the cars being all really close together you never know when they might crash or who will win that stage.

In the end, based on these three factors, Nascar is better. However, remember that it’s very personal so I understand people who think otherwise.
