The Super Bowl LIX is the most important annual event for American sport in which the American Football final is played. This year, the title for the 59th edition of the Super Bowl, held on the 8th of February, was fought for between the Kansas City Chiefs, who were playing for the third win in a row, and the Philadelphia Eagles, who upset their competition with a devastating victory (40 – 22).
As we all know, the Super Bowl is also famous for its notorious halftime show, which this year featured Kendrick Lamar who was introduced by Samual L. Jackson dressed a Uncle Sam, he was then joined by SZA, with whom he performed many of his songs such as “luther” and “All the Stars”, he continued his performance with the newly released and most anticipated song of the night “Not like us” in which he threw countless shade towards his longtime competitor and rapper Drake.
The President of the United States, Donald Trump also attended the match. Ultimately the key element that led to the Eagle’s victory was their defence which was able to limit the Chief’s offence, while their own runs prevailed. The Chief’s struggled to keep pace, despite strong efforts from quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
In the end the night’s combination of sport and music created a high-stakes atmosphere to be remembered for a long time by worldwide fans of sport, music and pop culture.
